About Varanasi -

Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is devoted to Lord Shiva. It is located in such a place, which, according to the Hindu mythology, was formed by Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. It was destructed in a large number of invasions and was reconstructed by Rani Ahilyabai, Indore’s queen, in 1776.

Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is also known as the Golden temple, the most important temple in Varanasi. The original building of the temple, located on the road, was recorded to be demolished by Aurangzeb in order to construct a mosque at the site of the temple. The columns of the former temple were used to build this mosque.
