A less-explored and much steeper valley known as Lug-valley is to the west of Kullu. On the east there is a giant mountain ridge. A revered local temple is stationed on top of this mountain ridge. Another famous town in Himachal Pradesh Manali lies to the north of Kullu, and is connected with it through the Rohtang Pass. A journey through the Rohtang Pass to Spiti and Lahaul valleys is cherished by any ardent nature lover. A distinct change in temperature can be felt as you traverse along.

Kullu valley is historically known as the Valley of Gods. The most popular festival over here is Dussehra, which celebrates the victory of the mythical lord Rama over the vicious king Ravana. Based on the Hindu calender, this festival takes place either in the month of October or November.
